Tucked away in the tranquil Newlands, The Dandelion Cafe is a delightful hidden gem that my friend and I recently stumbled upon during a leisurely summer stroll through the local park. We had no idea what awaited us, but it turned out to be an unexpectedly wonderful dining experience.

The café's surroundings, nestled within a picturesque park, provided the perfect backdrop for a post-walk reprieve. We were warmly greeted by the friendly staff, although the service, while friendly, could have been a tad swifter. The interior of the café, though comfortable, had a somewhat dated charm, which is more a matter of personal preference – I tend to lean towards a more modern aesthetic.

Now, onto the highlight of our visit – the food:

The Dishes:

  • I ordered the Halloumi and Chilli Jam Ciabatta Roll, served with a side of delectable potato salad.
  • My friend opted for the Creamy Parmesan Wild Mushrooms on Sourdough Toast, garnished with toasted pine nuts.
  • To complement our meals, we both savored Chai Lattes.

The food exceeded our expectations in every way. Portion sizes were generous, leaving us perfectly satisfied. The flavors were absolutely delicious, and our orders arrived promptly, ensuring our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Remarkably, our bill came to just about £25, offering excellent value for the quality and quantity of food we received.

I must admit that I'm not typically a fan of potato salad, but the one served here was a revelation. It harmonised beautifully with my meal, adding an extra layer of flavor that I couldn't resist. The Chai Lattes were delightful as well, not just for their taste but also for their photogenic qualities.

The only aspects that could use a touch-up were the café's interior décor and the level of activity. The décor, while charming in its own right, appeared a bit dated. However, it's important to note that my preference leans towards a more modern setting. As for the bustling atmosphere, it may have been due to our visit coinciding with a busy period. I can only imagine that dining outdoors in the midst of nature during the summer would have been the perfect antidote.

In conclusion, The Dandelion Cafe's culinary prowess shone through. It's a place I'd happily return to, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to my friends and everyone reading this review. The café's warm ambiance, friendly staff, and, above all, the exceptional food make it a memorable dining destination. This experience has set a high standard for our food exploration journey and marks a strong start to the blog!
